Interesting factory Ni P225 from 1984

Confirmed factory Ni, with box label "EL" printout. Dull Ni look typical of W. German, not Klein, plated guns.

So, what's interesting about it?

1- Front sight is black, while everything else on the gun is Nickel. Possible that previous owner swapped front sight? Because, it's hard for me to think the factory just didn't plate the front sight.

2- The mags are not Nickel plated. Typically, full Nickel SIGs came with Nickel plated mags.

3- Box is gray cardboard, not the green one we're used to seeing of the early (pre-90) P225s. Interesting, also, that my 2 Ni P225s from 1986 came in the gray cardboard boxes, not green.

12131, interesting, to say the least! I appreciate, the fact, this is the first P225 marked unit I've seen that uses the same beveled rear of the slide over the cocking serrations of the P6s.

It does look by the scaring of the plating around the front sight, that it's been at least "moved" quite a bit...

The only place I recall seeing the "orange" bar and dot setup was on my stainless P232, 20+ years back. To be honest, had never seen too many nickeled units anyway!

Orange bar dot on these early W. German Nickel P225s (1986) and P226 (1987).

Member hurstolds1 also has a Tysons Corner factory Ni P226 that is exactly the same as the P226 above.

TerminalSigness, what do the sights look like on your Tysons Corner Ni P226?

I absolutely love the factory nickel sigs. Sad I only have one and cant really bring myself to pay the going rates for a used one I see for sale out there.

I'm planning to send off a P229 I have that is showing a need for refinishing on the frame. I'm planning on using CCR, I only hope the CPII and Nikote have the same warm brassy look as the factory nickel. I love it.

I wonder if it was older stock that was EN/nickel'd later by the "factory"...I recall the boxes going to the gray 2 tone in 1990 (when I bought my P228) as the original P228 boxes were red (IIRC)...

when Klein EN'd my P228 they did not do the sights (I've had a P226, P228, a P230 and two P220's done by them and only the P230 got the sights EN'd and they did make the sights red from their previous white bar dot Von Stavenhagen version)...

above information is subject to my memory recall so YMMV... ;)
