Problem with my Sig P220 compact

Went shooting Wednesday and my 220 compact developed a problem. I've been using the same nine mags for at least the last year without a problem. The sig mags worked fine, but the 4 act mags caused a problem. Reloading the sig with an open slide I couldn't pull back the slide to release it. Using the slide stop worked fine. Thought maybe just a bad mag but it happened with all four all the same day.Just found it really weird that I never had a problem before and yesterday all 4 act mags caused this problem. Any ideas.

To clarify, you inserted a loaded mag with the slide already locked back and you could not pull it back to slingshot the slide?

if so, was the slide stop not dropping out of the way when you pulled back the slide?

Or could you pull it back and release but it wouldn't return all the way to battery?

I have full size and carry size P220s, never a compact. But they should have the same design.

EDIT: I run full-size ACT-MAGs a lot in my .45ACP P220s and have convinced myself that I can trust my life with them. They are great mags.

Mort, from what I take you are saying, is that the magazines "prevent" you from pulling the slide rearward...

If the magazines are empty, and "new" the magazine springs will hold the Slide Catch Lever "up" keeping the slide locked to the rear. Older magazines with weaker, worn out springs won't keep the Slide Catch Lever engaged.

If the magazines are full, a photo of both brands of magazines side by side for comparison would help.

As GBIA mentioned, I too have several Act Mags, but not the Compact model, and haven't had any problems.

I think I found the problem. First off the act mags are 8 rd mags. Using snap caps I found the mags worked fine in my full size 220. In the 220 compact if I fully seated the mag it was going in too far, if I pulled down on the mag a little the slide worked fine. Just weird to me that this just happened after I've been using these mags for year without running into this problem before. The sig mags are 6 rd ones or 8 rd ones with sleeves on them. Thanks for the replies.

Found that my braided recoil spring had a few broken braids. I replaced it but it still doesn't feel right to me. Went to the range Wednesday. The sig functioned but when the slide is locked back and a full magazine is inserted, I can pull it back and release it, but just barely. Seems I should be able to pull the slide back a little more than I can. Compared to my 226 and 229 I can barely pull back the slide on the 220 but it does release. Any thoughts. Breech block have anything to do with it.
