P220 SAO sear and safety lever

Hi All,
I was wondering if anyone has pictures of the sear and saftey lever from a p220 SAO?

I bought a P220 SAO legion 10mm and the reset is garbage. I just took it apart and it would appear that the sear and safety are non-srt.
My only frame of reference is DA/SA sears and safety.
I have a P226 SAO I am considering taking apart to see the differences in components but before I do I thought I would see if someone had images?

Unless I am missing something this looks very non SRT.
I thought all Legions were SRT's, if not all SAO's

There is a difference between P220, and P226 SAOs. The current P226 SAOs come with an included SRT, and have Safety Levers like such...

The Sear itself, isn't much different than the DA/SA version. There is a difference with the Hammers, and Trigger Bars too. The problem is Sig is very tight lipped on information and parts breakdowns for SAOs.

There was a similar discussion recently in the Gunsmithing section. https://sigtalk.com/sig-sauer-gunsmithing/381510-sao-hammer-differences.html

The SAO SRT Sear is for all purposes a copy of the DA/SA SRT Sear, as far as physical appearance. Short of physically pulling one out of one of my P226 SAOs and comparing it. It has the same physical "Lug" that is engaged by the Trigger Bar, instead of the "Lug" on the standard Safety Lever.

Is the new 10mm L SAO’s curved trigger an old 8mm trigger and, if so, is that tied to the lack of the short reset safety lever? Different trigger bar?

Perhaps there is some limitation in parts compatibility for the stainless frame?

Otherwise, hard to understand why this new Legion 10mm would lack the shorter reset.

No they wouldn't use the really old 8mm triggers. Those are way out of production. It looks like it probably just has the previous pre SRT SAO parts for whatever reason. Not a stainless frame thing. They mostly all use the same or interchangeable parts. Except my P226S X5. That has an extra lever next to the safety lever and I think the cavity in the frame is machined wider for it but have not measured yet. It's possible it was misbuilt or they were trying to use up extra non SRT SAO parts. Maybe call Sig and they can check the serial to see what it should of been built with.

Ok Thanks all!
This is confirming a lot of what I was thinking!

I emailed with Greyguns and purchased one of their SRT sears that they said would be compatible with an SAO i would just need the SAO safety lever (in this case a SAO SRT).
The trigger it self is not an 8mm trigger it is a 10mm with "no pin".
The sear that Willard posted seem to be similar to the P226 SAO (from what is visible) i have which has for all intents and purposes an SRT (The reset is very very short).

I dont know if there is any source for these safety levers that I have been able to find and am contemplating disassembling my p226 SAO and seeing if it will work.
If it does I might just fabricate my own.

Again i have no idea why SIG would decide to put base model components into their "flagship" model guns. It's a mystery, and pretty dumb mystery. lol

It is disappointing that new SAO lacks the newer safety lever.

I took a quick glance at Midwest Gun but didn’t see that lever show up when searching from either the 226 or 220 schematic. I’d call Sig and see if they’ll ship one to you before trying to fab one.

I know my 45 220 Legion SAO has a safety lever that appears identical to the photo attached earlier by Willard. And my reset is as short - if not shorter - than that of my SRT-kitted DA 226’s.

Given the popularity of “short reset”, especially for classic p series, I don’t know why Sig isn’t more explicit as to the inclusion of such with their product descriptions on their website. But, such deficiency is only one of many as to the adequacy of those descriptions.

I ordered an SAO safety lever from Sig for my P220 that I'm converting to SAO. The lever I received looks identical to the one Willard posted. Part number 1202088-R. Bag is labeled Safety Lever, 226, SAO. I can not confirm yet if this is the correct lever for a P220 or if they sent me the wrong lever or if it is the same as SRT SAO levers.

Slomo,
P220 Legion SAO 45ACP's were manufactured prior to the P220R5 10mm's.

SIG has recently re-listed the P220R5 Legion SAO 10mm.

I pulled the safety lever from my P220R5 10mm Kryptec Camo SAO "Ugly Duckling" to double check my misquoted earlier post.

I do not have a Legion SAO in 45ACP or 10mm & never will as sloppy as the SAO's are.

Gents-
My late night/early AM experiment w/ my Ugly Duckling P220R5 10mm SAO.

I dial indicated trigger lever, trigger bar & thumb safety movement by attempting to install a GGI dual adjustable curved trigger lever w/o locking insert installed to ascertain how much 1st stage trigger take up that could be eliminated & to indicate sear reset.

I installed a P220 SRT safety lever for comparison measurements.

My findings,as Willard eluded w/ his P226 SAO post that only 2/3 of the 1st stage trigger take up was possible w/o interfering thumb safety operations into & off safety.

I removed the GGI trigger lever & SRT lever & re-installed the original parts of which said pistols reset is acceptable....1st stage take up & thumb safety operation is horrible.

OEM trigger bar modification is my next task.... once I acquire a NIBag replacement/spare.

I installed a GGI SRT sear, hammer spring and adjustable trigger with a p226 SAO safety lever on the p220 legion SAO 10mm. Now there is zero overtravel and a beautiful short reset.
As Dan mentioned you can only slightly adjust the pre-travel before you start interfering with the manual safety. To my mind there is little practical necessity for fully stacked pre-travel. There is almost no resistance before hitting a wall and then the break is crisp and short which is all I care about. With the GGI sear and spring the pull came down from 6.5-6 to 4-3.3lbs which I imagine will lighten up a little with wear-in

I'm still baffled why Sig came up short on the specs for this one. The parts for SRT cant cost them anything extra and even a non-adjustable flat faced trigger would be better if not more "distinctive". Oh well.

CGI SRT: $80 (Sig SRT sear is $15)
GGI Trigger: $70
Sig safety lever(1202088-R): $9
Legion 10mm SAO: $1600
Total: $1759

Since you are starting with a Legion, you're a "step" ahead, and I don't expect you to "remove" your Trigger Bar, but it would be interesting to "see" what difference between it, and the "normal" SAO Trigger Bar. Since it is possibly what engages the Safety Lever. Just like the DA/SA SRT Safety Lever is "moved" by it's Trigger Bar.

Is your Trigger Bar more like your P226 SAO in construction, or like this one?
