The best P229 is the one you think is best for you

IMO the best P229 would be almost the same gun an M11A-1 or P229SAS Legion

Oh, wait, Sig does not make a M11A-1 legion and is so screwed up they cancelled the P229SAS when they should have made a P229SAS Legion.

Tweaked from the factory the Legion is what a Sig, all Sig classic guns should be
However having a P229 Legion with a rail that is not a 1913 PIC rail is absurd

I have had 2 P229 Legions (and a p226) but the rail makes them a poor (IMO) CCW.
A CCW should be as perfect to draw and deploy as possible and a rail eliminates the Legion from that

As for right now the M11A-1 with enhancement to the action is the best P229 you can buy

Now, if you have a different opinion than me well, you are simply just wrong

best sigs?

I have a 229 in 40 with a German frame and a 9mm 226 West German. Neither have ever given me a moment of doubt.

Heaviest gun you can get and works for you! EDC is not meant to be comfy, it has to save your life *that* one moment you may need it!

Also, when the **** hits the fan, you'll need Mr. Newton to help you, you'll most likely be shooting with one hand, take it for granted!!! Heavy guns help with recoil - yes, those calibers aren't recoil friendly, but way better than alloy and Godforbid, plastic!

Watch some actual footage, only people who had the time to pull a good one got to use both hands - And those weren't the ones who were facing the ugly end of a barrel to begin with!

This being said, I also found good use and comfort, even when it sounds contradictory because its frame is made of alloy, in a P226, German so no rail, in .357 Sig.

<----- Please see the Country where I live. It's a Country where you can either spend your whole life without seeing a criminal, or simply have an issue twice a month, despite growing up and living in the same neighborhood as the other guy.

If you're a LEO then things are absolutely different, I can't comment on that.

Last but not least, I'm typing this on behalf of a friend who's on the phone now. I don't carry anything else other than a Bible and... erm... good intentions. Yeah. And defend my home with a double barrelled nerf shotgun my son gave to me after listening to some American politician giving advice on home defense ;-)
I agree, very well said. P229 Elite 357 Sig EDC.

Since you haven't commented since starting this post, just what type of "features" do you feel are important?

Since you said "NO MODS", does this mean of any kind?

For example, here are 2 of my "favorites", which get EDC duty at least 3 days a week, both are early manufacture, '93/'94. One is basically a duplicate of the other, both have had SRTs installed, and both wear the same grips, sights, and Sig Armorer strut... both are .40s, though the one has a dual adjustable trigger...

At one time or another, I owned 2 SIG Sauer P229 DA/SA Legions, a SIG Sauer P229 DA/SA Nitron, 2 SIG Sauer P229 DA/SA SASs, a SIG Sauer P229 DA/SA Scorpion, and a SIG Sauer P229 DA/SA Stainless Elite, all chambered in 9mm. Then I "discovered" the P226.

So for me, the best P229 is a P226.

If I were buying a new 229 I think I would get the plain Nitron with E2 grip then upgrade trigger and do short reset kit

Blasphemy!!
But being a forgiving guy you are still welcome to drop by my table and chat

Funny thing is for me it was the opposite. I started with a Mk25 but bought a M11A-1 to compare them and ended up liking them both equally.
But, I can carry a P228/9 the P226 is just a bit too big to me for CCW so wanting a system not a varied collection I went M11A-1s (I had 4 at one time) before i just could not resist the lure of the P228

P229 DA/SA Legion 9mm as EDC. Has been a great pistol right out of the box. Improved it with Gray Guns trigger and trigger bar. Smoother, couple pound lighter DA while maintaining factory springs.

Am completely sold on having first shot DA long pull at 8 lbs With no safety and decocker with thumb on hammer to reholster.

Most fun guns P229 SAO Legion 9mm with red dot and P226 SAO Legion 9mm with red dot. Both with Armory Craft flat adjustable triggers and skeleton hammers. 3mm take up, solid wall, 2.5 pound crisp trigger. Breaks like a 1911 with zero follow up and 1.5mm reset.

These two pistols are for range, steel, training, fun, speed. For everyday carry I train and use the DA/SA.

P229 Legion RX. can't think of anything to change. and the Romeo 1 convinced me to put red dots on all my guns.

I guess one thing to get is the Hidden Hybrid IWB/OWB holster that covers the red dot.

I truly enjoy shooting with the RX. However I recently went shooting and placed the P226 back in the case leaving the range. The next time I opened the case the RX would not display. The foam in the case had been pressing on one of the buttons and the battery was dead.

Even though I have co-witness sites I am not comfortable using anything extra like light or red dot site on my EDC pistol.

I train with, and use my P229 DA/SA in the simplest mode. Draw and fire with deliberate long pull DA. No safety, no dead battery, proven combat ammo, relying on tens of thousands of combat training rounds for center mass hits.

Now, when I shoot, multi steel targets under timed rapid fire I love my RX SAO P229 & P226. Would definitely use RX SAO if I were headed out zombie hunting.
