320 X5 Legion with optic

I'm sure I've been here before, but I dont know what my username was. Not new to sigs. I currently have a P6, 239, 245, 229 Elite, 226 TacOps, 226 Legion, 220 Tacops TB, and a 320RX.

Anyway, I was wondering about running an optic on the P320 legion. My understanding is that the chamber indicator renders the optic useless after X number of rounds. What's the solution here if any?

My 320 is a full size original RX, not the X and I'm wanting more a race gun as my primary range / training tool. Considering the chamber indicator blows gasses on the optic, with the X5 legion, would one be better off just adding the $300 X grip model and dropping in a gray guns trigger to their existing 320?

I know I'm kinda stuck on the legion like a fan boy but my 226 Legion is far and away my favorite and best shooting Sig. I hear a lot of good about the 320 variant.

Thoughts?

Welcome from Indiana.

I also have a P320X5L with the Pro1 and yes, it does get a little 'fog' on it after a hundred rounds or so but it doesn't interfere with operation. A quick wipe with a cleaning pad and it's good to go again. I'd much rather live with the fogging and keep the RD.

The newer 320 legions do not have the LCI. At least mine does not. I recall another thread about this where a date range was established where they seemed to have stopped the LCI, I went to say build dates after dec 2019. There were also a couple people that got Sig to correct the problem.

I still get some minor buildup on the glass after 200+ rounds but it doesn’t interfere with shooting at all. Easy wipe down with my sunglasses cleaner and back to good as new.

Two X Five P320 here, one legion with LCI and one pre Legion. Both with Romeo Ones. Both get fogged up about the same. After 150-200 rounds I will pass a cleaning wipe across the glass once and I am good for a few more boxes.

Do not pass on the Legion.

Welcome from GA.

Aggrofish, my X5 Legion had the LCI with the attendant lens fogging problems. I contacted Sig customer service and they replaced the barrel with a non-LCI one. I did have to send the whole gun to them, but they paid the freight and returned it to me in about a week. great customer service!
From the looks of your repertoire, if you weren't already here, you need to be!

Hello and Welcome! I bought an X5 Legion in January and mounted a DeltaPoint Pro. It did dirty the optic much faster than my other pistols with optics, but it was still fine to acquire a target. It made a distinct pattern on the glass clearly from the LCI hole. I read where others had contacted Sig and had their barrels swapped out, so I did the same. Turn around time for me was about a week. Much better now.

Almost all pistols will dirty the lens of their optics- with and without LCIs, and there are hundreds if not thousands of threads on various forums about the topic. It's the nature of pistol optics.

The topic is especially common on more competition shooting oriented forums like Brian Enos.

For competition, ideally you'd handle and inspect the pistol you're thinking of buying and it would not have an LCI slide or barrel; but you could always replace an LCI slide and barrel to minimize the carbon fogging.
