For years we have kept a S&W .357Mag revolver at the bedside in the interest of home defense.
As I work nights, the idea was that we wanted something stone cold simple to operate for my wife that did not involve safeties, chambering rounds or the like.
(Not that she couldn't handle it, but I believe if you are woken out of a sound sleep you should limit the number of mechanical steps to perform.)
This is why the Sig DA/SA setup was a godsend for us, and we recently upgraded to a P226 for bedside duty.
.
.
Anyhow took her to the range today for her first time to fire the automatic. (mind you this is a woman used to getting six cannon shots out of a 357 Mag.)
So Im telling her "so you got 15 shots this time....go slow...get used to it...etc etc"
Wifey proceeds to square up and in rapid-fire BLAMBLAMBLAMBLAMBLAMBLAM!! empties all 15 rounds in like 10 seconds into the poor defenseless target while Im behind her dodging a shower of hot brass !
She turns to me..."I like this one better."
I'm doubled over in laughter but have to graciously (and very politely) point out ranges usually frown on rapid mag dumps...
I think I have a new range buddy.
Attached a completely accurate and in no way photo-shopped recreation of the event.....
