How can you tell the difference between a P220 ASE and an SSE?? Help

Just holding one would be apparent, but without a "case" and the identifying SKU label on it, telling the difference by photo may be difficult. in most cases as Sig tries to match their sheen, to make it difficult.

SSE is stainless through out, the ASE has alloy frame.

Didn't the ASE guns get walnut grips where the SSE had rosewood?

In reference to the frame(s)-

Is Aluminum magnetic? NO
ASE-Alloy Stainless Elite.

Is 400 series stainless steel magnetic? YES
SSE-Stainless Steel Elite.

Stainless Steel can be magnetic to a degree. SS is a composite of steel, nickel, and possibly other metals depending on the “grade”, which can affect the degree of being magnetic. The easy first hand clue is weight. SS frame vs aluminum frame, the weight difference is substantial. Both are a composition of several metals.
