New member with some questions on two sig models.

Iím in a process of purchasing my first handgun but my father owns a sig, and love the feel of the gun.

Iím torn between the sig p365 and the sig p320 X Five Legion.

Eventually I want to get a conceal carry permit and I hear the 365 is perfect for that, while the p320 is a bit bulkier.

I was just interested in peoples opinions of both guns as well as if the p320 could work as a conceal carry. Plus any other advice/pointers you could share.

I will also be going to the gun store to check them both out and see how they feel. If you have any other recommendations, Iíd be interested to hear.

Thanks!

If there's a range that rents guns in your area, trying them both would probably be the best approach to see what feels right to you and what you like the best. Reading reviews online helps, of course, but trying the gun is best.

That said, I personally prefer the hammer fired metal SIG's, I carry a P229 40, DA/SA.

Thanks for the insight. There is one range thatís reopening on Thursday, not sure about their gun collection. Was going to call them too see if they carried both models, if so, Iíd definitely try both out.

One of my dad's sayings comes to mind here - about the right tool for the job.

The P365 and P320 X5 Legion are certainly both striker fired Sig pistols in 9mm. But they are significantly different in size and weight, and somewhat different in ammo capacity.

While you can carry both, I belive one would have a time trying to conceal the 320 Legion. But the 365 would be quite easy to conceal.

The 320 Legion is not without merit however. It feels incredible in the hand and is a dream to shoot. And you can nearly double the capacity when you get 21 rd mags.

Someone recently posed the question of, if I could only have one pistol, and my response after some consideration was the 320 X5 Legion. But that was not from a standpoint of comfort to carry and concealability.

The short answer for me is - I'm not giving up either. And though it is a bit cliche, I'd recommend you get both.

I'm curious - you never mentioned what Sig you father has.

Dad has a p226. In jersey they made a law about 2 yrs back. You can only have a max mag of 10 rounds. I wanted to get the 12 on the p365, till I just learned about the law today.

I might be moving in several months to ga and then i can upgrade the mag and apply for conceal carry, since in Jersey itís nearly impossible to get one. But seeing as Iím more likely moving and can then apply for a carry permit I figured the p365 would be a great first gun. But the 320 and mag size are desirable as well. Might purchase the 320 when I get to Ga. Unless Iím able to try both at a range or I feel like one or the other is a perfect fit for my first handgun, if that makes sense.

Ideally Iíd get both, but atm itís not in the plans, but possibly in the future. Kinda torn between the both. What youíve described is kinda how I envisioned both to be.

Thanks for the input.

If you get a chance to get to a range, you might also try p320 m-18 or P320 x-compact. Both are larger than the P365 but smaller than the x-5 and a bit easier to carry/conceal.

I think you have 10 round magazine options for most of the Sig lineup, just have to be careful when ordering/buying, though I think there are a lot of precautions in place to make sure you can’t buy the higher capacity versions while in NJ.

See bumper's comments. If it is likely that you will end up carrying whatever you purchase (if it is still possible to get a carry license in NJ), I view the P365 as the best option of the two. Because it is surprisingly easy to shoot, although a lot smaller than the Legion, it isn't a bad range pistol.

Yea, I would definitely want to use it for the range, seeing as it would be my 1st gun.

And it is nearly impossible to get a carry in NJ, not even going to try, unfortunately.

Welcome aboard
I have the 365 for a carry and a 320 that I love shooting at the range.
I do agree with others, both if you can swing it.
Good luck

x2. The slightly larger size fits the hand better for better control at the range, yet is still easy to carry. Not ideal for pocket carry tho.
