Your Favorite Handgun Grips...

Pretty sure this question is just as contentious as asking about your favorite SIG model, or favorite ammo... but I'll ask it anyway!

Is there a particular brand/type/model of handgun grip you like over another?

For me, I was in for a real surprise several months back. After buying a P226R with E2 grips from an individual, I decided to embark on the journey of searching for the "perfect" aftermarket grips!

After trying several sets of aftermarket Hogue grips, including the G10 Piranha grips, I ended up selling them all and returning to the original E2 one-piece grip! Was I shocked at this result??? Danged straight I was, but I didn't argue with the result.

So how about you? Have you ever experienced such a "revelation"?

I have both E2 and Piranha grips on my Sigs.

I have MIL-TAC G10 grips on several 1911's. I particularly like the Wiley Clapp profile.

A loaded question Bill, but overall, I'd have to say Hogue G-10s with Piranha texture, are currently my favorite "feeling" grips.

Visually I'm recently hooked on the Spalding Composites/Sig grips used on the "Select" versions, where I have been fortunate in picking up some "overstock/closeouts".

Overall G-10 material has been a boon to handgun manufacturers, being durable and functional, with a variety of color combinations available.

I have put Hogue G-10 Piranha Grips on a couple of P220s and like them very much. The E2 grip size fits my hand quite well, but they just don’t feel solid enough for me. I also think the stock G-10 grips that came on the Classic Carry P series Sigs are well done, with good “bite”, although to me they are a bit bulky feeling on double stacks. I have put several different G-10 grips on 1911s and Beretta 92s over the years also, with varied degrees of satisfaction. Overall, I like the looks, feel, and functionality of G-10s. I think the wide variety of color, texture and grip thickness is what appeals to me.

I prefer Rosewood, if not available Walnut. I have several guns that came with Rosewood plus added them to other models.

The black/grey G10 piranha grips were my favorite out of all the aftermarket ones I tried, but the one thing that disappointed me was not having quite as much curvature on the backstrap as I would have liked. The E2 simply fits my hand better, and has an excellent grippy surface without rubbing my skin raw when holstered (I always carry IWB, and only wear an undershirt in the winter).

Rosewood is very nice, but my personal choice for wood is cocobolo; just put a set of checkered cocobolo grips on my P230SL last week!

My P229 came with Hogue aluminum grips on it, and other than being cold in the winter, I do really like them!

Oh, and when I still had a P239, the rubber finger-groove grips were mandatory to make that thing shootable for me!

I have Sig aluminum and Hogue G10s, and no question G10 is my choice. I have all 3 and Piranha is what i prefer.

As for favorite, my 1911 diamondback rattlesnake hands down.
A little thicker than standard 1911, and I like that as well as the feel.

I love Rosewoods....for looks....not function. The E2's work good for me.
