new vs old 229

Hi all. What do you guys think of the old German made (well frames) vs the new ones? Heard some folks say they are better, say there's no difference. What say you?

Thanks

I prefer the older ones as I am not too fond of the frames with the rail. I also like the legacy half height serrations and the short extractor.

My thoughts exactly. I don't like the rail on the 229, and prefer the shorter grip. Also, the old blue box just is, imho, cooler. Ha ha

i had several 229's over the years with german frames or were all german, without rail.

only one had a rail + beavertail but it was the only way the 229 sse was made.

I like the old P229’s. The Legacy slide looks better IMO.

Welcome from Texas. I have two of the new ones plus a German Frame CPO I have no idea how old the frame is.

My 2015 229 Elite is beautiful and goes bang every time I pull the trigger. Welcome from the Gunshine state.
