it will be shiny and stainless and weigh noticeably more than the other variants in it's model range.

The 'standard' frames are all aluminum alloy.

If you look up the model number on SIGs website for current models it will tell if the frame is stainless steel or alloy. The model usually has "stainless" in its name such as the Stainless Steel Elite or Black Stainless.

Weight is always substantially more with a stainless steel frame - usually about 8 ounces more than a alloy frame and usually over 40 ounces.

It can be hard to tell by looks alone and people sometimes think a nickel plated SIG pistol is stainless steel and SIG also now offers dark finished stainless steel frames.

If you have access to the pistol a magnet is a sure way to tell.

Drrrrr! the magnet is the obvious choice here pal! lol JK a magnet should be used for determining what metal a gun frame is made of.

Typically the totally non-magnetic stainless is used in medical equipment and other equipment that could malfunction if a magnetic field were introduced, guided missiles come to mind.
