carry pistol

I have a 229 and a 290, I'd like to have something in between an I'm thinking about a 239 but looking at the specs I don't see much different than the 229, maybe a half inch shorter. what say you all?

Hello djack;

Personally, I have a P226 40cal and I recently purchased the SP2022 9mm which I have learned to love dearly.

As I "conceal carry/tested" my SP2022 I quickly realized the following.
SP2022 is: lightweight, a little smaller and almost inch shorter, higher mag capacity and cheaper to replace "if necessary"

Taking these facts into consideration, along with my physical dimensions I switched my 226 for 2022 when conceal-carrying. In this way, I can keep my $1,000.00+ gun safe for home defense and the cheaper but highly reliable SP2022 for the road.

Your needs and "gun taste" may differ from mine, and maybe everyone else, however, please take a minute and look at this thread:

I am sure you will find a lot of useful information.

Good luck!

djack, My P239 in 40 S&W is my favorite EDC. I use either a Bulldog In The Front Pocket
holster or a Galco Belly Band. It conceals easily with either set up. As far as size difference, I dry fire every night to keep the callous on my trigger finger from going soft.
If I dry fire either the 226 or 229 first the 239 feels too small in my hands.
I wear a medium glove so I do not have huge hands yet the 239 will feel like a small frame .380 acp. I recently bought a 357 Sig barrel for my 239 and look forward to this
weekend to try it out. The 239 definitely is smaller than the 229. Shawn

OP, the 239 adn the 225 are simular weight wise. look atthe weight of a 229. the critter is at leaset 10 oz heavier. look for a 225, and if you want small, the 938
