The Springfield Mil-Spec seems like a nice piece but cant find one locally....I hate buying guns sight unseen. There are alot of 1911's at local shops to handle, just never the ones I want haha

I don't have a 1911 yet. Is there that much difference between all the manufacturers' versions? I read a few "fits my hand" comments. Aren't they all roughly the same? Why the crazy price difference between manufacturers? My LGS recently sold someone a 1911 (Wilson I believe) for over $3K! That version must be one hell of an improvement over the old Colt.

a 1911 version of this: all black with silver slide release, safety and mag release buttons and I'm thinking the barrel bushing is sliver too

The 1911 Nightmare is a great gun, just dont wana spend $1000. Rather stay between $700-$800 max. Plus there are so many 1911's to choose from for the lower price range I dont see a need to spend that much. Just my .02

I have had more reliability issues with Colts more than Kimbers. Have had 3 Colt 1911s. Current production gov't xse, series 80 officers (still have this one), and a 1990's commander the worst of all. They all have trouble with hollow points. Many failures to feed. Commander the most. Had a kimber custom eclipse 2. Not one malfunction. I know Colts have a great reputation & following, but I guess I have bad luck with them.

One of my all time favorites is the 9mm Springfield EMP. It is probably the most accurate short barrel 1911 I have ever fired. Was my daily carry gun until I purchased the Sig P938. Now it sits on my night table for home protection. Highly recommend.

Thanks. I felt the same way until I got my hands on this little beauty. There has been a big improvement in the stopping power of 9mm ammo over recent years so I feel very comfortable carrying the EMP. I hear you about the cost. Picked this one up used for $1000.00 but spent additional bucks to have the front strap checkered, custom match grade trigger ( 3.25 Lb pull ), custom grips and refinishing the slide and frame. Have about $1,400.00 in it now and she's definitely a keeper.

I was just in some LGS today because I've been thinking its time to get a 1911. It would be my first as well and I have been looking at the Springfield milspec, Remington R1, and Ruger SR1911.

On a fun note, watched Sin City again last night and just noticed that the Springfield milspec cameo's about 20 times in the movie. Gotta love hollywood marketing
