This may not be the most stupid thing anyone has ever offered on a gun forum but it's certainly competitive...... NEVER hammer down a gun with a decocker with your thumb. Never.

On the SP2022, the decocker pushes the sear block out, just like pulling the trigger would, but as was covered, it controls the hammer drop. Much better than a Glock's absence of any decocking mechanism. Anyone else spooked by most safetyless striker fired pistols, like Glocks, and M&Ps, for concealed carry with a round in the chamber? Such a light single action trigger to have no block for it. The XD has the grip safety to keep the trigger from being manipulated.

That's right, keep perpetuating fear. Teach everyone how dangerous the gun is instead of teaching how it works and where not to point the muzzle.

Anne has the very bad habit of pointing it in toward her body and using her thumb on the decocker lever. shoud it slip or malfunction, the round is probably taking her elbow off, or worse. I keep telling her to change the way she holds it but you know women...

Vetteguy: The Hornady Critical Defense and Critical Duty loads are not designed to expand in anything that is not as dense as something close to ballistic gelatin (mostly water).

The Hornady Critical series with the FTX bullet is built to be "barrier blind" against clothing, glass, plywood, and probably drywall as a result of the construction. Assuming the bullet didn't lose too much velocity after it impacted the table, I'll bet it would have expanded in ballistic gelatin after going through the drywall. I don't believe any other hollow points would have expanded in thin drywall, either, whether there was gelatin behind it or not.

BOTTOM LINE: Don't let this one incident change your opinion on your carry loads. The Critical Series WORKS, that's why the FBI is starting to use it. Carry out some comprehensive tests on bullet expansion using water jugs and various barriers if you want a good test. If that bullet had not impacted the table first, I'd put money down on the fact that the FTX bullet would just keep truckin' through drywall.

Regards,

Rob

According to some people, she's doing it right because she's using the decocking lever. That baffles me.
