There may be a lot of problems with SIGs posted on the various forums out there, but this is kind of the place people seek out when they have problems, and a lot of them only come here because they have problems and are seeking answers. For every horror story about a firearm posted on a forum there are thousands of happy customers who've never had a problem out there.

WELL SAID. You can find horror stories, leigitmate maybe but probably mostly not or repeats/I heard from a friend of a friend, about models from any pistol manufacturer - just Google it and you will find them.

Then there are websites like the one in the link below where actual owners and shooters post their reviews. Check that out. Does not look like the P226 is a horror story pistol to me.

Sig Sauer P226 - PoliceLink

Bottom line for me is that SIG P series pistols like the P226 are best of the best world class pistols used by many elite ot the elite agencies. I love my P226s and shoot them very very well and NEVER have had an issue with one in thousands of rounds shot now. The P226/P228/P229/P220 are easily my prefered hammer fired pistols bar none.

Just because someone posts a potential problem with their P226 it would be totally INSANE for me to dump them and run screaming and then to what? Something I can't shoot as well and then find out that users are having issues/horror stories with that new model that I just picked up?? I don't think so.

Sould someone be disspointed if their new SIG P226 has a potential issue? Sure but SIG will take care of it. 99 percent of the "issues" I read about P226s are cosmetic or minor issues that do not have anything to do with the functionality, reliability, durability, or accuracy of the P226.

Sig issues and how they respond

So here is an update on my pistol and process thus far. My goal here is to give you all an honest representation of what my new 1000$ pistol was like as we'll as what customer service is like as we'll as repair quality.

1) Called sig and spoke to Jay Bernotas a customer service rep. Described my problem. Jay asked me to send a photo of the issue as well as my contact info and serial number.

2) Sent a email to jay with the same photo as the original post and a short description of the problem as well an explantion of this being my first sig and how i was dissapointed that after so few rounds the internal coating was flaking off Two days later I received a one sentence email that said "what's your address"

3) sent and email with my address

4) received an email from fed ex with a return number and shipping instructions. no explanation from sig as to what I am supposed to do or what they think.

What are your thoughts I will reserve expressing my feelings till I have herd what you all think.

Yeah, just follow the shipping instructions and send it back. They're probably not going to tell you what the problem is until one of their gunsmiths can actually get their hands on it and inspect it.

Yea I'm going to ship it back. The fed ex instructions are clear. No big deal. Have done this with Springfeild before.

I'm sure that they will take care of it. Most likely replace the part with the defective coating.

My thoughts on Sig's customer service.

I have total faith that Sig will replace the part no questions asked. I really believe in their quality. This issue like many have posted is a cosmetic issue only mistakes happen and its not a big deal. I put 200 rounds through it yesterday in the pouring rain and had zero failures. I felt surgical shooting it and it was fun. I love this pistol. With that said I was slightly offended by the customer service guy. I felt the whole one sentence email thing was rude. I know their busy but how long can it take to say, Hi checked out the pic you sent me. Sorry your pistol is having an issue. I'm sending you a fed ex shipping label, send your pistol back and we will make it wright. Then again, maybe I should just chill out

it looks on my monitor like a finish issue (the wear looking normal to me) and I am sure SiG will get it fixed up fine for you...I would have been disappointed with this on a new pistol too...
