Finally got to shoot my new SP2022

Finally got to the range this morning and was able to put around 200 rounds through my new SP2022. Shot 150 rounds of Winchester white box, and another ~50 of old hand loaded JHP I had laying around (and was probably 20+ years old).

No issues at all with the ammo, but at first I had a few times where the slide failed to lock open (I was resting my thumb on the slide release) after the last round. By the end of the hour I had adjusted to where that wasnt an issue any longer. User error.

btw, this was the first time I have been shooting in about 20-25 years, and it was a blast once I got over the initial nerves and flinching. Only shot from 5 to 7 yards but was able to easily hit near I wanted to and got decent groups (all things considered). Took a few rounds to realize that I had to cover the aim point with the front sight (not aim below it). After that, load, fire, reload, fire, reload, new target, etc.

Very easy to fire, pretty light recoil and just fun to shoot. The trigger was pretty decent and I really like the decocker. Looking forward to cleaning it and hopefully going out again tomorrow for another 100 or so rounds.

They are some sweet shooting guns. IMO they are the best of the best in their price range.

I like them too

I picked up a Ruger P-95 for my hikes during the fall and winter. I run into all kinds of predators including poachers and I am by myself most of the time. The Ruger has a nice trigger and shoots well but is just a bit wide even under a vest. The SP2022 is slimmer and carries easier than the Ruger and it is my constant companion now. I have one in 9mm and am thinking about a 40.
