Slide serations

I can't seem to figure out the reason for the different style of slide grip serrations on various SIG pistols. Some w/in the same model have long grip serrations while others have shorter serrations running along a raised portion of the slide.
Does anyone know the reason/s Thanks

It is my understanding the longer serrations are part of an updated slide design. The shorter ones being the older design. I think the longer ones on the 226/9 are part of the E2 program and may be a spinoff on other models? Anyway not a functional change.

the ribs on the serrations have also changed shape a little on the stainless elites.

Not sure about any difference in functionality, but those new slides and serrations are sure making life HEL* in trying to find a molded full kydex. There is not a supply of 'blue gun' models yet for holster makers to use, and the new slide design does not fit into the older model holsters.
