Plastic v. metal guide rods Part II

I read the recent discussion on plastic versus metal guide rods and decided to check the ones in my 229 and 239. Both are metal hollow tubes and came that way from the factory. They are not plastic. They seem to work great and it beats me whether or not solid stainless steel would be any better. These ones seem pretty stout especially in the 229 (.40 cal).

I thought only the SP2022 came with a plastic guide rod. Are there other Sig models that potentially come with them?

I got a P226 E2 and one of my P229s a while back that came with plastic guide rods. However, I've bought 2 P-series pistols since then that came with metal guide rods. I'm not sure how they determine which pistols to put the plastic ones into.

Wish I knew

I'm not sure how they determine this. My SP2022 does have a plastic like everyone elses. Not sure it makes any difference but I like the looks of the ss ones.

I just like the idea of a metal one. It's the only real complaint I have about my 2022.

I aggree. I've honestly never heard of anyone having a problem with the plastic guide rods, but to me, metal just seems better in a handgun. Especially in a part that takes so much abuse.
