help with my p229 fascination.

hi guys this is my first post so here goes. I held the new p229 with the enhanced grip. And I LOVE it. I currently own a P6 and a P220 SAO in .22lr. My dilemma is I WANT the new P229 but they are a steep 7-800 bucks! Should i sell both and get (1) new p229? Or alternatively there are shelf full of those p228r's at my local gun store on a discount. Anyone know much about these? If I bought a p228r, could I do an e2 grip mod?
Thanks guys,

First let me welcome you to the forum from Texas.
Second I am in the same boat as you, sort of:
I held a P226 Scorpion and damn it, I didn't want to give it back to the counter person. I am torn between selling my guitar and buying it or just be satisfied with my 2022.
Decisions, decisions.

IMHO -

@Jordub - Is your P6 made in West Germany? If so, I would keep the P6, and sell the P220, save some money and buy the P229.

@KennyD - Sell the guitar and buy the P226.

I have a history of buying and selling guitars, but this time I found one that I really like. You know how it goes.
Maybe one day.

Yeah my P6 is a West German gun. 2/80 manufacture date. It's a year older than me but still shoots great. I don't think any of the internals have been changed/upgraded. And the sights are black. Although I haven't shot any hollowpoints through it yet...I Have heard the early P6's have FTF issues with JHP's. Never thought about selling the 220....

I have a lot of handguns of different kinds, but the only one I have several of is the 229. I have 4 of them, and love them all. I also love the E2 grips, and have converted all of my 229s to them. I'm not going to give you advice on what to do, but if you can find a way to acquire the 229, you won't be disappointed.

On the 228, I don't have one, but I really want one. Before you buy one, take it apart and have a good look at its internals to make sure it's not too worn out. If they have several there, they probably have one or two that are in really good shape.

And yes, the 228 can be converted to E2 grips. There are a few threads here that discuss that. Do a search and you should find them.

Keep the p-6. The hollow point issue is very easy fix if needed.Just wait and save up for the 229.
