Wondering if the slide is stainless or carbon? Wondering if the finish is blackened, is does not look like conventional bluing. The slide is mildly magnetic. And does anyone have any experience with how the finish holds up against the Sig plastic holsters?

I believe 232s have stainless slides. And it's a Nitron finish, which is why it doesn't look like bluing. I haven't tried the SIG plastic holsters, but I've used other brands of Kydex holsters, and they all eventually cause a little wear to the finish. I don't know of any holster that won't eventually cause some finish wear.

Edit: All the sources I'm seeing online only say the blued model is steel, they don't necessarily say it's stainless, so it might be carbon steel.

The all stainless p232 display model that Bass Pro tried to sell me 2 months ago had very noticeable wear marks from the sig plastic holster it came with. Now the gun was a 2 year old display model, but it was still new. They tried to polish the marks out but failed.

I have a P238 that I use the Sig plastic holster. The finish is fine where the holster is but it is short and where the slide touches my skin the finish looks different. Holster is fine.
