Question Detail Stripping

Ladies and gents,

I have a problem. Every firearm I own, I can skillfully completely detail strip to the bare bones components; every spring, pin, and lever. There is one firearm, however, that refuses to be detail stripped. The SP2022 9mm has a massive roll pin that locks in the firing pin safety, firing pin, and extractor. I bought this pistola used and it pains me to not be able to detail strip the slide, and I am not forking over the few dollars left in my starving college student budget to visit a gunsmith when I'm more than competent to do it myself.

Do any of you have any suggestions of getting this thing apart without a BFH and a set of pin punches? Any input is highly appreciated, and as always, I'm more than willing to help others with any problems that they may come across.

Regards,

Rob

Does anyone maybe have links to detail stripping guides or armorer's manuals? I'm not afraid to take aprt the trigger group or slide, but there's always tips and tricks to make things easier...

I've watched several videos on YouTube, and while I can't say how expert they are, they seemed to know what they were doing...and enough to convince me I'm not going to do it. I don't know if you can find one in your location, but I searched the net and found a SIG armorer in the Dallas area who will do a detail strip and clean for $35. (He also offers a range of other services as well.) That is certainly worth it to me! I am not uncomfortable tinkering with my 1911s and M&Ps, but I won't be doing anything beyond normal field stripping to my P229.

I completely disassembled the trigger/hammer group earlier. Took me all of forty-five minutes to disassemble the whole lower frame, lube, and reassemble it. Now I just need to go find some steel punches lol...

Doing Your Own Sig Work

This question comes up often on various forums and youtube videos always get mentioned as a source for information regarding disassembly/reassembly. For those wanting to do their own work and learn the methods which are taught by Sig, I highly recommend a DVD by Chis Orndorff, a "Certified Sig Armorer", from Top Gun Supply (link below). In the video, he shows techniques used to disassemble/reassemble frames and slides for repairs, cleaning, maintenance and lubrication. The video is very close to what is taught in Sig's classes and well worth the small investment. Top Gun Supply also has a large inventory of Sig parts, including SRT kits, available to the consumer.

First, double-triple-check that you have a DVD drive in your computer and not just a CD drive. Second, open up My Computer, right-click on the DVD drive icon, and select "Open" to view the files. This can be done if it won't play in Windows Media Player or whatever you have.

rt click/open won't open dvd files if it isn't a dvd player.

if there's a dvd player a menu should come up to play with wmp or another player if available.

it is a dvd i thought.
