2022 mag

Hi I've been a long time reader here and I have to say unlearned a lot thanks guys. Anyways Im about to pick up a 2022 this weekend not sure what what caliber yet but I was looking at fleebay and noticed that the 9mm mag are more expensive than the 40cal is there a reason for this or just supply and demand?

Sounds like supply and demand to me. Because except for the follower and some slight dimensional differences around the feed lips, there's no real material difference between .40 and 9mm magazines.

Regardless of the caliber, in looking for additional magazines for the 2022, don't overlook Mec-gar branded magazines.

In fact, the Sig branded 2022 mags are actually private label mags manufactured by - you guessed it - Mec-gar.

Long time reader or no, allow me to officially welcome you to the forums.

Welcome.

And yeah, I'd also chalk it up to supply and demand. Just out of curiosity I checked Top Gun Supply, and the 9mm mags are $1 more than the .40/.357 mags. I don't have a 2022, but I've heard it's been harder to find mags for them lately. Not sure why. And 9mm is probably the most popular caliber, so it makes sense that 9mm mags would be in shorter supply.

It seems like that's the case which doesn't help me in deciding what caliber ill go with. I did a lot of research between the 9mm and .40 pro and cons for each and shot both caliber at the range but still can't decide which one to get coz I think its boils down to shot placement.

Of course it's personal preference on the 9mm vs 40 but you will always have a good supply of 9mm ammo available. BTW the way I have the SP2022 in 9mm myself and I like it a lot.

I have been looking everywhere for these mags, and I found some at Guns for Sale - Online Gun Auction - Buy Guns at GunBroker.com
Living in PA they will collect the sales tax, but its still not too bad. My 2022 came with 1 mag only, and I don't want to keep one loaded at all times; I prefer to rotate them as to not keeping one loaded for too long of a time...

I bought all my mags on Gunbroker. Around $10 each.

Damn straight. I posted elsewhere on this forum I got super lucky and got one mag for even less, but before that, I considered myself damn lucky to buy three 15 rounders for $74 shipped.

It's kinda embarrassing because at the moment I actually have more mags for my sidearm than I do for my AR. Mr. UPS is going to rectify that imbalance in just a few days however.

I also read somewhere here a while back that a 2022 40cal 10rd magazine will hold 12 rd of 9mm and fire with no problems of course just for the range purposes. Anybody can tell me if this is true?

I've read that too but I have no experience in doing so.

Just read several threads about this in other forums and apparently it works, although some suggest that you might need to bend the lips a little so it will hold the smaller 9mm cartridge but other than that everything seems to work just fine.
