229 Caliber X-change Kit Availability

So I got my 229 classic and it runs great. I go to order my 9mm x-change kit from SIG and am told that it is in stock and will ship in a day or so. Three days later I call SIG to ask why I haven't received my shipping notification yet and am told that they are on backorder with no estimated date of arrival. I then proceed to scour the interwebs and cannot find one in stock anywhere. What a let down SIG.

Does anyone know of someplace that has these in stock? I see Osage County Guns with listings for them on various sites but they too are out of stock as of this morning.

My first SIG is turning into a major disappointment. I feel like I have bought half a gun with no assurance that it will ever be whole.

Check out the gun broker sites. Here is one (in "Elite" 9mm). Sig Sauer P229 9mm ELITE SLIDE Caliber Exchange : Pistol Barrels at GunBroker.com. Not sure why you feel that you have "half a gun"; didn't yours come with a slide assembly?

I mentioned Osage County Guns in my OP. I called them this morning and they are out of stock. I feel like I have half a gun because I wanted a 229 in 9mm for my new EDC and 22lr for cheap training. Until SIG makes more kits I only have a 22. My real fear is that they will cancel the classic line and associated x-change kits and I will then be stuck with an expensive 22lr.

I went the P226 22lLR and bought the 9mm kit a month later. The SIG rep said they are VERY popular and difficult to keep in stock and in the distribution network. With the P290, P244, and M11-A1 keeping them busy, along with the entire line, stay patient and keep looking.

WOW I have been on the exact boat as you Colt40five!! I got my p229 classic 2 weeks ago, and could not track a kit down anywhere. Thanks for the hinterland hook up!! Just one thing, do you happen to know if the slide they have is the newer (slimmer) slide with the full height serrations, with the 15 round mag, or if it's the older design? I really want the newer design. I called SIg and they said there is no way of knowing which one I would get if I ordered one from them....

They list it as CALX2299BSS which is the exact code I had on my order(now canceled) with SIG so I'm assuming it's the new version, but I have no idea. If SIG doesn't know how would I? If you want to wait until I get mine I'll let you know.

The CALX2299bss is the general item number for all the kits unless it's an elite kit. What was the expected arrival date? I'll wait for your confirmation. I hope their stock will last.

Guy on the phone said it may ship today or definitely Monday at the latest so I should have it sometime next week. You could call them and ask how many they have in stock. If it's less than 5 I'd be hesitant to wait. Others with our common issue may be lurking here and gobble them all up! They have a really good price too mine came to $307.88 shipped. That's only about $24 more than at SIG with the 20% discount for registering the warranty.

Look at the comments on the product page. One guy clearly says it has the 15rd magazine.

When I bought the 9mm upper from SIG for the P226 (Aug '12) it came with the 15 round mag and the newer slide version. It also has night sights.
