SP2022 Failure to Extract

I just bought my first pistol and am having issues with it not extracting spent shell casings. I've run everything from Hornady Critical Duty to WWB through it, and after about 30 rounds it fails to pull the shell out of the chamber every 7th or 8th time. Any ideas on how to fix this?

Also the extractor just kind of wiggles around when you touch it, it has no tension at all, so I'm thinking this might be the issue?

It sounds like you definitely need to replace the spring, the plunger, or the extractor itself. Please take a few close-up photos of the extractor claw and post them here. The extractor should never be loose and wiggling around, unless it's missing a part or is extremely out of spec. Best bet? Probably end up detail stripping your slide and replacing something.

The extractor in my sp2022 does not wiggle at all. Sounds like bad extractor spring?

That must be an older SP2022. Mine has a different extractor style. The one in yours looks a bit more traditional style, like a 1911's. You can probably get that retensioned by a gunsmith or do it yourself if you watch enough tutorials and get the information needed on doing so.
