P-229 sight adjustment

I have been hitting the target at 25 feet down and to the left a couple inches. so I let another shooter try it out and he had the same results. I saw that the rear sight came from the factory positioned mostly on the left side. The sights are the night sights that say MH3 AJ, and I cant see how I can adjust them short of buying the $200 tool Sig has on their website.

Shooting .357 Sig is very costly and I shouldn't have to put in corrections at only 25 feet with this kind of a gun.

How do I adjust these sights?

You can tap them with a brass punch and scoot them over a tad but that is risky. You could end up scarring your slide if you slip or if you hit too hard you could rupture the tritium vials. I made the mistake of letting a so called smith install mine and he scarred up my slide a bit but the vials remained intact even after the blows he took to marr my slide. I was mad at first but I have gotten over it as it does not affect the function of the weapon at all. It is my EDC and I am sure it will get a few more nicks and scratches in its lifetime.

Thanks for the advice, I will give that a shot. It sounds like a surgical procedure trying to avoid scarring the side and not bursting the vials but Sig has left me no choice. The first scratch hurts the most and like you said, you get over it eventually. I love Sigs but one thing I have noticed is on mine at least it shows wear easily no matter how much I baby it.

You can get a "Maryland Gun Works" sight pusher model MGW307 which is virtually the same as the SIG unit (which is built by MGW) for considerably less. I got mine for about $130 shipped. It's a good piece of gear that gives you real capability to perform sight adjustments safely and accurately. Took mine to the range and got my 229 dialed in tight. Just wish that it worked on my 250.

The local range where I shoot has the proper sight pushers, and will do an adjust as a service along with other minor smithing.
Has gotten gunsmith business from me as a result.

I got my desert eagle .50 AE original sights pushed off and trijicon night sight pushed on and sighted in by a local gunsmith for a little under $50 I think that will be the best way. They are liable for any damage and if it needs ajustment just take it back.
