938 dings?

New user here. I'd like some second opinions on an a little issue I've got with my new 938 before I contact Sig. I bought this over the weekend at a local gun show and when I got home I noticed this ding on the slide. Obviously it won't affect performance but cosmetically it's driving me nuts. How I missed this when I handled the gun before I walked away I have no idea. I guess I assumed it was a perfectly new gun free of cosmetic flaws and just simply overlooked it. My question is would this effect anyone else? Should I even attempt to contact Sig about this? I would contact the dealer but I cant' expect him to take my word for it that it was like this before I bought it and I completely understand that. I haven't fired it yet and I'm sure theres no way to prove that I haven't. Do I have any options here other than trying to cover it up with ink? Thanks for checkin' it out! Take care.

i doubt if sig will do anything & you need to ask the seller if nib or guesstimate of rounds fired, if known & dicker with pricing over cosmetic issues, before you buy it.

appears cosmetic & shouldn't affect firing.

welcome from az

That looks like maybe more than just a few test rounds thru it.
Those marks just mean it's not a virgin anymore.
The label on the box, or calling Sig service will get you a born date.

Good luck, and good shootin with it.
Be assured Sig will warranty it for life.
They proved that to me with a used 1911 problem.
I can't say enough about the service I got. Both the 1911 and the 938 I traded it for.

The wear on the chamber/barrel hood is normal, since the gun is test fired before shipping. The dings on the bottom of the ejection port are not normal, and could be a site for potential rust formation in the future.

I would contact Sig, and explain the issue. They have a great warranty department. I bet they'd refinish it for you.

When I first looked at the picture I had a thought.
I gotta wonder if the dealer sold it. Had it come back for reason, sent it to Sig for repair, then back on the shelf.
My 938 has 600 or so thru it.
It has a shiny line across the top of the hood. Nothing really around the ejection port.
How about the smiles on the barrel? That is a guage of use.
Also I read here of others, and my 938 developing a shiny spot foward on the rail. I wondered about it til I read others. Also Sig had it and never said anything.
