P22X Trigger Pivot Pin Position

After re-installing the locking insert in the frame, should the trigger pivot pin be rotated (perhaps 90 or 180 degrees) from the "horizontal slot/notch down" position that is required to allow locking insert removal/installation?

No

The slot in the left end of the trigger pivot pin will probably be cracked or distorted if what you suggest is attempted.

Given your guidance, would it be correct to say that the function of the notches on the trigger pivot pin is to "retain" the pivot pin in the frame (held in by the locking insert slots) during pistol operation?
