What do I get P226 BFTO .40 versus p229 BFTO .40

Hello,
I recently bought a SIG P226 MK25 9mm. I want a .40 S&W. I was planning on buying the P226 BFTO before I found the MK25 for a great price $900 brand new. With the new SIG model for the P226 and P229 with the load indicator and the ability to not fire with no magazine insereted, I wanted to purchase a BFTO while I could.

SO my question is what is more accurate and easier for parts, maintenance, customization, and overall ability; the P226 .40 or the P229 .40? I like the feel of the P226 but since I already have the MK25 I am debating on which model to get.

Any help would be appreciated, also I am looking for magazines, holsters, and equipment for my SIGs (the MK25 I get on NOV. 30th)

Hey Doc. What is this BTFO.
As for parts, reliable concerns and accuracy. All are the same. Which one feels right? The 229 is smaller if size is a concern. All in all choice is yours.
Holsters, try Nightengale Leather. The GOOD STUFF. All other stuff check out TOP GUN SUPPLY or BROWNELLS.

The P226 and the P229 are both top tier superior weapons and IMO equal to answer your questions. Get the one that fits you best or like many buy both.

+1 on buy both.

3.9"/229 versus 4.4"/226 barrel make for a longer sight radius.

They're pretty much on par in all the areas you're asking about. Both super accurate, easy to maintain, and many parts work for both weapons, so modification and customization on both is easy. The 229 is more compact for concealment purposes, but the grip is fatter so it feels different in the hand. If possible, you should hold both for a good while in your hands and decide which feels best to you. I happen to like the P229 more, but it's not any better than a 226 quality-wise.

And I think he means "BTFO", which means Black Nitron, Truglo/Tritium Fiber Optic, meaning a nitron-finished slide with the Truglo fiber-optic front sight and Sig Lite Tritium rear sights. In other words, it's the slide that comes on the TacOps 226 and used to come on the SCT 226 and 229 models. It's not a package that's listed on the SIG website, but if you look around on the internet, they're out there.

If the BFTO model is similar to the regular P229 and P226, with the P226, you get a little extra sight radius which comes in handy especially for those long distance shots.

I had both and settled on the 229 because I'm partial to compact. If range shooting is all you will do, the 229 does it fine. If you ever want to go really serious target shooting the 226 will give you more.
A 40 will convert to 357sig and 9mm, so you could get a 229 and end up with 9mm in 226 and 229.
If you ever want to carry the 239 will convert also and is closer to carry size.
Frankly I love my 229, but wish I had handled a 239 before I bought. A 239 feels best in my hand.

Yes, the BTFO has the same sight set-up as the TacOps, but it's on a standard 226 frame, so no beavertail. The one in the only pic that I've seen of one has the E2 grip as well instead of the magwell grips that are on the TacOps. So, basically the BTFO is a hybrid SIG. I'm not sure if they're actually produced by SIG or maybe one of the companies that does aftermarket modifications on SIGs. From what little I'm seeing about it on the interwebs, it seems like they only come with 10 round mags, so it may be a model only available in certain states.
