Anybody have loose groupings with their 2022's during the first 200 rounds?

I just shot my own 9mm 2022 for the first time today. The only other time I've shot the gun was a range rental in the same caliber, and I found myself to be pretty effective with it on the local steel reactive target range. But today my groupings varied from seemingly unexplainable 6-8" groups (without any clear consistent pattern) to very very tight 2-3" groups, all while using the same stance, technique and trigger squeeze I normally shoot with and shoot on other platforms with.

Has anyone's 2022 or other 9mm sig been a little erratic or exhibited some 'break in' symptoms in terms of accuracy? Or is it just me not being totally used to the platform? These test groups were at 7-10 yards where I would shoot roughly 2 inch groups with my other pistols.

I'd say it might have been inconsistency with the operator. I'm not saying that you're a bad shooter, just that you might have been doing things differently at different times during the shooting session. Gripping harder or looser, maybe rushing a few shots, or perhaps your trigger control wasn't perfect on some groups. Just take some more time between magazines or courses of fire. You can wear yourself out in an extended shooting session.

Yeah the only thing I've read about breaking a 2022 in is perhaps an occasional FTE, which I had none. I was efficient with the 2022 the first time I shot one as a range rental so I was very surprised when my groups at 7 yards were so big and inconsistent. I'll shoot it more and report back.

No. My 2022 is easily one of my most accurate production guns. An easy test is sit at a table with a sandbag rest and shoot it. This will show the mechanical accuracy the best, without actually clamping the gun down.

At first, I thought a 3rd gen S&W I had was inaccurate. I shot it sitting at a table and my groups shrank back down to normal size. I just couldn't shoot that gun well.

No. At 7 yards I was holding two inch groups, at 25 yards groups were about three inches.
