Bought a new Sig P232

Hey all, newb here..

I just sold off my wife's Sig P238 Extreme and ordered a new Stainless P232 w/ night sights.

Honestly, our decision to go with the blowback design P232 is heading into uncharted waters in our minds.

I used to have a S&W PPK, and it wasn't as reliable as the tide. It was decent, but not great.

The P238 was reliable, but the wife thought she'd have trouble operating the safety in a bad situation.

The P232 seems to be everything we both want. hammer drop "safety" lower recoil, and gosh is it a good looking gun.

I bought it based upon reviews seen on Bud's Guns website that were pretty much all glowing, but several were from 2008 or earlier.

I assume like other new sigs, they are made here in the states, but I'm wondering if there any known issues with the current production guns.

(yes, we should have looked into this before we ordered it..lol)

Also hoping IF there is an issue, Sig's customer service would take care of it.

Pics coming when it arrives!

Welcome. You're going to love the gun regardless of any issues that may arise. Afterall, I still love mine. http://sigtalk.com/sig-sauer-pistols...-sig-p232.html

Wow, I'm going to really carefully look mine over when it comes in as Buds will take the gun back if the buyer isn't satisfied.

Have you fired yours yet?

I thought the recoil of the 380 P232 was too high for a low powered pistol. Being of blowback design, recoil seems greater than it is with other designs.

Good luck with it. Hope you like it. A friend had one for a while -- I shot it quite a bit. Even though it had true "cool factor", decided against getting one.

Again, hope you both like it.

I haven't fired the replacement yet. I'll likely get out this Saturday. The original gun "fired" flawlessly and standing at 23 yards I managed to hit a 12" target 92 out of 100 shots with Winchester White Box ammo. Considering this is my first handgun and I'm very weak on handgun shooting fundamentals, I have to give the gun most of the credit.

Good to hear, well...

I was looking through a few websites and found some either surplus or retired guns for sale and they had a ton of used Sig P230s in stock, most were black with 80-90% finish left on them for a dirt cheap price of $375/piece.

Cancelled my P232 order and bought one..lol

Enjoy your 232. My wife has a older 232sl with over 1000 rounds through it without one problem. There are smaller and more capacity 380's out there but my wife can shoot the 232 VERY accurately and loves the feel of it.

gb232,
You will be well pleased with an older P230. The machining was much more precise than on the P232s-IMHO. Not long ago a friend picked up a used dark P230 with lots of holster wear and sent it to Cumming's Custom Refinishing. There is a picture of a P230 at their web site. this is not my friend's gun, but this is exactly the way his looked when it came back to him from Cummings.
They have a stainless P230 of mine that they are going to re-glass bead and re-brush the flats. I will try to learn how to post photos and get them up when the gun gets back to me. Find below a link to the pictures of some of their finished guns
