Need Advise and Help

I am new to this site but I have a very important question. I will soon be starting a job as an Armed Guard but I need to provide my own equipment. I have two firearms but may need to part with one of them to cover the cost of the equipment I need for the job. I have a new P250 Compact with only 25 rounds fired from it. Bought it brand new. Also have three magazines with it. I also have a P226 and judging by the stamp, it was made in 1994 and only one magazine. My question to everyone here is: Which one should I keep and which one to get rid of? And resons behind your opinion would be helpful as well. I just want to make the right decision without having to regret it down the road. Thank you for your help.

Well if it were me the 226 would stay. I just think the 226 is a proven overall better gun.

...and to only add...you probably won't have trouble in the near future buying another P250 but a nice 1994 P226 will be far more difficult...which ever one will fill your needs first should ultimately get the nod...

Welcome and stay safe in your new job...

I'd keep the 226. 9mm is cheaper to feed anyway! if money is the issue just starting out I'd see about hitting a pawn shop so you have the option of getting whichever gun you decide to part with back in the future!

Given that you need to sell one to finance your other equipment purchases, you might want to consider what you could get for each of them. Depending on it's condition, you would likely get more for the 226 than the 250.

The 250 is a fine pistol and would surely serve you well in our duties. Lighter than the 226. More flexible in terms of changing size between full, compact and subcompact grip/frame. More flexible than the 226 in terms of changing caliber; it can go .45ACP which the 226 cannot. Most posters here who own one speak often of it's reliability; I personally have over 3k rounds through mine with ZERO malfunctions.

Thank you everyone for the advice. I took both to a few different dealers and they all quoted me pretty much the same price for both. Unfortunately they are only offering 200 a piece. Ive been leaning towards the 226 myself but I'll probably end up keeping the 250 instead seeing as that I already have 3 mags for it as compared to my 226 which I only have one. Thats a 60 dollar difference alone. Keep the advice coming though. Its very appreciated. Again, thank you.

I would keep them both and look around the house for something else to sell. However, if push came to shove, the 226 would be the one in my stable. If you sell your 226 you may find yourself regretting it later. I also prefer a da/sa vs dao.

Load up your 226 with Federal HSTs and liquidate the p250. If the mags are lightly used, sell them on Gunbroker to fund purchase of 226 magazines. See what you can get for the 250 on gunbroker, too. If it really is like new condition, you can get $300 for it.
