New SP2022 Break In

Finally made it to my local range today. Picked up my 2022 in 9mm last week but have been busy with the holidays. Had some Win white box (115gr), Blazer (124gr) and RWS (124gr) ammo. Finally got to shoot it today.

Shot off 50 rnds Win, 50 rnds Blazer and 20 rnds RWS. All shot flawlessly. I have 3 10 rnd mags (I am in CA!) and was in no hurry so I only loaded 5 per mag.

Shot like a dream. SA was swift and smooth, like butta. DA was a bit long and I got a bit wild anticipating, but this will improve with practice.

Some guy shot a .44 mag in the lane next to me which made me flinch a few times. (DAMN! quoting the Fluffy guy!)

Excellent Choice! I have a 2022 in .40 and have shot it once. I'm hoping this week I will go out and shoot it again! Still getting it broke in and used to the trigger. How accurate were you?

Funny thing lol some guy next to me had a desert eagle and 457 and it made my 40 sound like a .22.

.357 is no pipsqueak. Try it out of a ported snubnose. Sounds like a rifle going off in your hands.

True that. I prefer my .357s through hefty ol' wheelguns.

I've got the LCR in .357. With the factory grips, it's actually the most manageable/comfortable small .357 I've ever let rip.

But I have the Crimson Trace grips on that gun, so I feed it .38 Spcl +P non-jacketed HPs in it for SD/HD. The CTs are of a harder material than the Ruger factory grips and less forgiving. But, dang, they are something else in low light.

It will never be the beauty or have the resale of S&W, but even with the CTs, it's a pretty nice little wheelgun at a reasonable cost.

Congrats on the 2022. Mine's been problem free other than a few failure to fires with Winchester White Box. Everything else, it eats like a little piggy and throws groups far more than respectable.

I've pounded 100 rounds of TulAmmo through mine. The only failures I had today were after I buried it in snow. There was literally so much snow.packed in the hammer shroud that I had to triple-tap one round to get it to fire. I also had a fail to feed on a slide lock reload because of the amount of ice in the magazine. It slowed down the gun just enough that the casing jumped the extractor nose, causing a malfunction. I was impressed, though, because it didn't slow down one tick once it got shooting. There was still ice encrusted on and in it after I fired ten rounds. I opened the gun, locked the slide back, dropped the mag and the pistol in the icy snow, buried them in it and kicked them around. I picked up the 2022, blew the snow out the barrel, and commenced loading and shooting. It was impressive to say the least.

This test was done with the tulammo. If I'd been using "normal" ammunition, I'll bet the round would have fired. Tul is known for hard primers.
