No one goes in to business to lose money. Efficiency, productivity, and proficiency are the keys here. I don't know about who makes Sig mags, but I do know that the companies that do are are efficient, productive and proficient at what they do. Also, its called a make-or-buy decision. Does it cost me more to make it myself or buy it from someone else?

Called up Sig today and on the waiting list to get (4) 15 round mags. They said there's 2 manufacturers in the US that make magazines for them...and every other gun manufacturer out there.

Sig mags are manufactured by MecGar, Act, and Checkamate and they cannot produce them fast enough to supply this abnormal demand..

I bought two extra mags in VA for my p226, blued but glossy than the factory blued matte, 12 rounds still says "MEC-GAR, Made in Italy" on one side, type face identical to factory "SigSauer P226, .357, .40" follower is black.

This 'abnormal' demand is not abnormal. That is an excuse for those who were not looking at the world and the market. A poor excuse.

As far as you guys on here that 'think' you have some devine business knowledge or experience, resorting to Ad hominem attacks is typical of the libturd crowd, not what I would expect from gun owners.

The fact is there is a market that is not being taken care of, you can justify it all you want, but there is a gap.

It's really so much more than a "yes" or "no" topic.

On the one hand, I think this is an abnormal demand. On the other hand, a seven-year-old could do the marketing research to see this demand coming. "Obama just got re-elected? Get out the subcontractor book and start making phone calls!"

You still haven't elaborated on what it is that your alleged business produces.

I can't fathom that an unimaginative bachelor with such a meager firearms collection to show for his hard work is much of an expert on consumer demand...much less business. But stranger things have happened.

I would have to concur with our brother from Texas here.
Although the word abnormal is relative to one's position, the point is neither the main point or that important to the point.

Not sure why some forum posters are getting rabid about defending an obvious gap by manufacturers, it is a simple FACT. You can cut them slack all you want, but as TXSHURRICANE points out this is basic 101 market research.

Go try to buy any FMJ 9mm or extra mags now and if you like the luck you have then by all means pat the manufacturers on the back. Nothing like asking the new guys on the forum, "Great how do you like your new P226" and they respond, "I don't know, I can't get any mags or ammo".

If you don't control production, you'd have a **** poor boss then.

Am I the only guy who gets a few extra mags the day he picks up a new, quality semi-auto?
I always have, from my first MkII to the Buckmark on upward.
Who actually LIKES reloading mags?

""Obama just got re-elected? Get out the subcontractor book and start making phone calls!"

Yep, run was on way pre-Nov. 6; it just heated up.
The guys who did what the 'Cane said made coin. Cannot be argued.

I always buy/order 4/5 magazines in addition to the ones supplied. As to demand, the current situation is primarily driven but an unforseen incident called Newtown. Something that NOBODY here or in the firearms industry could have predicted.

Had that shooting not occurred the current unavailibility situaiton would not have developed.

If people paying 2, 3, 4 times the usual price for mags isn't "abnormal" demand, then I don't know what is.

I'd bet that the mag manufacturers are scrambling to produce as many as they can in order to cash in on that demand...while it's there.

I'd also bet they are considering the risk of running up more inventory (and cost) and selling them before an Executive Order banning the sale of "hi-cap" mags is issued.
