Question about hi-cap mag for 9mm SP2022

Good morning all. I've got a question and I apologize if it's a dumb one.

I purchased a NIB Sig SP2022 9mm this past Saturday. It came with one 15 rd. mag. I really want another hi-cap mag for it as I'm worried that we may be heading straight towards a hi-cap ban shortly (I sure hope I'm wrong). I could not find ANY Sig 9mm mags at a gun show this weekend, nor could I find them at a retail location that usually carries most everything for gun enthusiasts. I'm guessing many share my fears about a potential ban and are stocking up.

Anyway, I found online a Mecgar 17 rd. 9mm mag for my model Sig. I was wondering if a 17 rd. mag would require that the mag stick out at the bottom or would necessitate some type of mag extender. Would it really even fit?

Again, this is probably a stupid question but I appreciate any guidance you guys would be willing to give.

There are no stupid questions. I have a couple of those Mec-Gar 17 rnd. mags and they work just as well as the Sig 15 rnd. mags. This Italian company actually once or maybe now makes the Sig brand mags and others. There is a small gap at the bottom and the mag extends 5/8" more but not noticeable. The quality and function are the same, excellent.

Factory (which are really Mecgars, anyway) at 15 rounds or Mecgars at 17 rounds are both dandy.
I'd grab that Mecgar you found before someone else does.
Call CDNN if you are interested in any factory mags for the SP2022. I got three from them the other day.
