the 229/9, on the other hand, has the stainless slide & is heavier in front.

if you ever have a chance to hold both at the same time, you'll feel the difference.
I have heard this over the years from several sources. I just shot my new SIG P 228. personally, I think the P 226 is the best balanced of the Sig's I own (P 220/P 226/P 228) but the P 228 is definitely a lot easier for comfortable concealed carry.

The only way a wife will rule my life is if she is filthy rich and supporting me.

This is a true story and a life long lesson that I hold dear to my health and well being. My wife can outshoot majority of shooters I know and thats alot of people.
That's a funny story, made me laugh, not many do

The P229 in any incarnation including the M11-A1 is a superb very top tier weapon and I own two of them. Just about anything in 9MM, especially with over 10 round magazines, is hard to find these days except CZs it seems around here.

SIG M11-A1 are going for over $1200 now on Gun Broker.

If I one can not buy a metal frame 9MM SIG I HIGHLY recommend they look at the SIG SP2022 which is poly frame hammer fired. I have one of those also and love it dearly.

Good luck.

Pick up the SP2022 for half the price of a new 229 and spend the extra money on magazines and a ****-ton of ammo.

I intend to carry it, so isn't the 2022 a little big?

I don't believe there's much of a dimensional difference between the 2022 and the 229. Their overall lengths and heights are within 1/3" of each other according to the website. The SP2022 is three ounces lighter. However, the 229 is, I believe, a much better handgun overall. The fit and finish is of much higher quality and the pistol is fit much more tightly. Personally, I like the 229 more, but the 2022 can't be beat at the price. Check them out, you might be surprised.

IMO and from experience the SP2022 is just as reliable, durable, accurate, and same trigger quality as my P229s. However it is poly frame which accounts for most of the price difference. My SP2022 is a German made with Ilaflon finish slide/trigger.controls and it looks beautiful because of that. I agree the Nitron P229s look nicer than the current SP2022s. Though I like the grip feel on my SP2022, my P229 with Hogue G10 grips is the bees knees. The SP2022 has the advantage of three different grip sizes.

IMO you can't go wrong with either the SP2022 or P229. However if one has the funds go for the P229. The SIG P229 is one of the finest very top tier pistols ever made and over a lifetime of shooting enjoyment the initial cost of investment will be well worth it.

Not hard to find here. Always one in the LGS. Most of them are my trade ins though. I live in a retirement area filled with fixed income people so expensive guns do not sell quickly

SIGARMS P229 9MM Factory Refurb EXCELLENT COND. $609.00 SHIPS FREE.
I've been looking at either the SP2022 or a Sig certified pre owned P229 and this looks like it fits the bill, but the description sure leaves me wondering if this is "Sig certified pre owned" or some other type of "refurb." I see only good reviews from Bud's, but with the way this is listed... I just don't know. No one else seems to have any Sig certified pre owned P229's, and I really am leaning towards 9mm. Any thoughts?

So, your name is Osolot...supposed to be like Ocelot Revolver from MGS? I digress...

The P229 CPO is solid. If it is a CPO, it's been taken back by SIG, worked over and sent out for sale. I would have no reservations about a SIG CPO and would pick up one without a second thought.

You don't see a lot of CPO's right now because they come in waves and with the current environment, people are picking up just about everything they can.

I don't think you'll have any issues if you do buy it and I'd recommend that you do. I don't see many P229's out and about because everyone seems to want one, great gun. Get it while you can.

Well, this will either turn out to be one of those life lessons learned.. or sweet opportunity taken. We'll see how it goes. At this point this seemed like one of the very few options available. I hope it turns out well.

As far as the name... had it for well over 30 years now. Long before MGS but I hear that type of question a lot.
