I just purchased my first fire arms ever last week, been out to the range once and was recommended to clean the gun after my first time. After cleaning and reassembling the gun, I noticed the barrel is slightly aimed downward. i was wondering if that was normal. The barrel is not perfectly centered in the slide. Its leaning towards the bottom of the slide. Any help or advice would be appreciated.

It would help to know which model SIG - That a side; I would suggest field stripping it, - replace the Barrel carefully - keep in place when replacing the recoil spring - and finish assembly.

2. search www.youtube.com for your model and look for an assembly / disassembly video for a good visual. Good Luck, JB

Sounds normal , there should be a little play because the barrel tilts a bit when the slide goes back. It helps load in the next round. It doesn't affect accuracy.

Perfectly normal, if it wasn't, then you would have a problem.

It's fine. Any gun that is recoil operated will need clearance to tip up on recoil - thats what you are seeing.

This is a great question. On my new P229 the barrel points down too. I was wondering if I put it together wrong. I guess its normal.

P-series SIG Sauer pistols use a version of John Browning's short recoil tilting barrel lockup approach. You'll notice if you slowly rack the slide that the barrel will drop after a specific amount of travel (which would be before the bullet exits the barrel and when the locking lug engages the cam on the underside of the barrel).
