In general I've had very good luck with aftermarket guide rod/recoil springs. For instance the factory recoil spring assembly (RSA) on my Gen4 Glock 26 was a little weak IMHO. It would fire OK but if you rode the slide a little it would not return fully into battery. Bought an aftermarket stainless RSA from Glockmeister (was planning to anyway) and it's been perfect ever since.

However, I have never even heard of Buffer Technologies and only own one Sig currently, a P938, which has a beautiful stainless guide rod from the factory.

Bent Recoil Spring.

That guide rod won't work right on a P229. The recoil spring needs to fit snugly on the guide rod for the entire length. Even Buffer's picture shows the .357 blue spring bent, because there is nothing to hold the spring straight.

That doesn't look good and I don't know squat (relatively speaking).
