Help me buy a P232...

I only have one Sig in my collection and need your help fixing that.
The P232 is a perfect fit for me and the role I need it for, but there is one catch. I live in California and thus can only get the stainless version per our approved gun list. My heart is set on the blued finish version though. Any thoughts or advice?

PS the P232 is only on the list for a little longer too...

Greetings Andersw,

I was in the same boat as you a few months ago, so I can speak from experience.

The only way you will be able to get that version is to purchase it directly from someone who has one before the restrictions.

With that said the amount of time and $ invested in trying to get one may not be worth it.
I ended up giving up my quest after reading various reviews on the stainless p232. Some say that it's an easier shooter than the lighter weight versions because less recoil.

Now the fact that it's only on the approved list is what sold me on purchasing one.. Once it's off that list then the only way to get one is from someone here in Cali. And then again the $ may go up.

I would not trust it with the way things have been going and get while the gett'en is good.
Chances are once the p232 is off the approved list it won't be coming back.

-lucky

so what happens in june & december, why won't it be renewed?
if not renewed, will folks that have them be grandfathered?

with cal laws it's a choice you have to make, legal or illegal 232.

welcome from az

What is their reasoning for banning the nitron (blued) version? Why is the 232 on that list anyways?

Just curious

It all has to do with testing from what I understand.

Long story short, each firearms company has to have certain features in order for California to exept a particular gun. Cali also requires a stockpile to test with and there is a large fee for the testing. (I think it's 50k)

So if it's profitable, companies will only release one particular version for the state of California. Example: SS p232 only available in Cali.

Thanks guys for the replies.

I decided to go ahead and get the stainless while I can... however both of my local gun shops that have always had P232s are sold out...

Moving is not the likely solution, and the used market has slim pickings on P232s. The guys at the shops know me and said the will text me if they get any soon.

As to what happens when something falls off the approved list in CA, we just can't buy new ones. You are grandfathered and can also let the circulate the used markets legally.

Time to keep my eye out on both the new and used areas and I will update if luck!
