Sights for SP2022

Hey folks.

Can anyone confirm whether or not P series sights will fit on an SP2022? I love my SP2022, but I'd like to start shooting it in some casual competiton, but these combat sights have to go. It shoots great, but they just aren't my preference.

I had my heart set on some Dawson's, but they unfortunately told me they don't have anything that will fit.

Is there anything out there that will fit, but isn't a typical defensive 3 dot setup? I really just want a fiber front and a black rear.

Help

Sights for SP2022

I'm pretty sure that any p series sights will fit, which would include the xrays (which have a fiber optic ring around the front tritium dot and blacked out rear)

P series Sig sights will fit just fine on the 2022. After I bought my new sp2022 9mm two years ago I had Sig swap out the standard Sig contrast three dot sights for Siglight night sights in the rear and the Truglo TFO green sight in the front. This is the same sight configuration Sig outs in new Equinox and Tacops model handguns. This is the same sight arrangement I have in my p226 Extreme today. FYI - if you plan to swap out the sights yourself be aware that the sp2022 requires a special sight pusher due to the shape of the slide. The standard P series sight tool won't work. That is why I sent my sp2022 slide back to Sig for the install. SP2022 sight pushers are few and far between.

Okay great, good to know. I'm wondering if Dawson Precision doesn't have the pusher in question which is why they might not be able to do it.

Maybe I'll take a look at some of the factory Sig sights, the x-rays look nice, but I really wanted a black rear without the dots. I find them distracting when trying to focus in the front.

As far as I know the unique shape of the sp2022 slide required a special sight pusher. The X-ray sights are very similar to the Truglo TFO sights - some say they are an upgraded (and up priced) version if the tfo's. One option would be to black out the two dot contrast sights in the rear of your 2022 and add the TFO or X-ray sight to the front. I found my cheapest option was to just send the slide back to Sig and have them do it. I had no luck finding a suitable sight tool here in Central Calif unless I bought it. I sent two slides back to Sig (sp2022 & p226) to have them install the Truglo TFO in the front of each. Frt both ways from Calif and the cost for the two front. Sights plus installation was only $160 total. Try finding someone who will sell you just the front TFO or X-ray sight - they all want to sell you a front and rear set. For me this was the best and cheapest option.

I ended up deciding to go with the full front and rear x-ray setup. I looked at a 226 Legion at my LGS and liked them a lot. The rear does have dots, but they are small and a different color in the daylight so it didn't seem to bother me. The rear is serrated as well, so that will be nice.

Sending the slide out to Sig to get it done so we'll see how it goes when I get back.

So to be clear P series sights will work on a SP2022? I am currently in the market for some blacked out adjustable rear and fiber optic front sights. LPA might be my source for these, or so it appears that way.

Keep in mind - the Sig pro series (sp2022 etc) require a special sight pusher due to the unique shape of the slide. Even the expensive "P" series sight lusher designed for the Sigs won't work in the sp2022. I learned this the hard way.

So how's does everyone recommend installing sights on the 2022? Will I have to find a gunsmith with the correct tool or send my slide to sig?

I ended up sending my slide to Sig. I had them install the Truglo TFO (green) on the front of my sp2022. If you contact Sig they will send you a prepaid Fedex shipping label. As I recall they even let me use a 20% off registration discount that I had. I live in Central Calif and I was unable to lost a gunsmith with the needed sight tool.

Thanks everyone you've been a ton of help. I'm running my sp2022 in competition because its a good enough pistol that I can't justify spending the money for another more competition specific rig. It's just these nite sights I have an issue with in competition. I'm thinking about actually buying another sp2022 to carry and just leave it factory.

It may be hard to find a gunsmith who will do work without purpose-built tools, but it is usually pretty easy to change sights 'the old-fashioned way' with a nylon or brass drift punch.

All the guys I shoot competition with use the old fashion way so I might see what knowledge I can glean from them although they all have glocks and M&Ps

Red Dot Optic or Romeo red dot for SP2022

with the advent of the P320RX on the market and in high demand, sold by Sig, I was wondering if anyone has mounted or can mount for that matter, a Romeo red dot optic or do I need to consider the P320RX rather than try to upgrade my SP2022. Thanks for any and all replies.
