Problem on p226, help

Was cleaning my mags for my 226. Inserted clean mag, tried to release, stuck. Finally got the mag out and checked to see what was wrong. Comparing my 226 to a 229 & 220. It looks like the horizontal face of the locking block (as it would face a loaded mag) is missing a "plate" or cover? There is a spring that rotates about 300 degrees that looks like would be covered by this plate or cover]. Any ideas as to what happened?226 prob.jpg
Will call Sig in am but any assistance is appreciated. Thanks

Your SIG has a CA magazine disconnect--that spring looking thing. They are known to malfunction/break. SIG should cover it under warranty. If you choose, it's really easy to remove. Plenty of videos online showing how to do it.

OH - was wondering what the heck that was!! Looks like a unique locking block too. Here's our Mk25 without the CA mag disconnect and a standard locking block...

Cheers

Called Sig at 9:10am their time, got right thru to Mike. So far this has gone smoothly; label emailed, boxed it up and given to fedex within 3 hours. First time to ever mail a pistol. Very nervous, don't like my weapons out of my sight or control. I'm hoping this all works out!

i have a P226 & P229 with all the California safety features. SIG got tired of me sending them back for repairs and i got tired of paying the shipping, so now i just order the parts and fix'em myself, prices are reasonable.
California is a silly state, with silly politicians but i don't let that get in my way, life it too short and i'm too old

Another Cali Sig guy who has Sigs and other pistols without LCIs or mag disconnects and I'm glad, it's things like this that can cause problems in a situation.

Unless you really want the magazine disconnect "safety" feature, you can find new and used P226 locking inserts on ebay without those parts.

I bought a CA-compliant P229 and did just that.

I don't know if such a modification could get you into trouble with the Kalifornistan Anti-Gun Nazis however. If so, you never heard of me.

Really don't think you need to replace the locking insert. Just remove the three pieces that make up the mag disconnect (pin, spring and blocker), then reinstall your locking insert. Save the parts for future use.

Update. Sent in on the 11th, back today the 26th. They replaced the locking insert on the block. Can't complain about the service, seems first rate to me! Not thrilled with the feature but will live with it until...... Now time to take it out and test drive.....
