Why on the P-239 if in 40 cal the sights are #6 front & #8 rear but on the 239 in 9mm or 357 Sig the sights are #8 front & #8 rear, wouldn't the 40 cal & 357 cal be the same & the 9mm be different?

Just something that was puzzling Me...

I believe on all Sig handguns, fixed sights are #6/#8 for all 40S&W and 45ACP and #8/#8 for 357Sig and 9mm. I am only guessing, but it may have to do with the barrel diameter and how it sits in the slides.

Yeah I think You are correct but the 40 cal & 357 cal are more simular than the 40 cal & 45 cal.....Just something that was puzzling Me,

Another question: If I replace my #6 & #8 sights & install trijicon #8's on both front & rear will that throw off my POA or POI ? I would think not as long as the sights are installed correctly..

Also: I've read that some sight tools may damage the 239's slide.. I guess the ones that don't have the spacer, Is there a special sight tool required for the P-239?

I'm having new Trijicons installed & not sure they have the proper sight pusher & they better not damage my slide.. ( I think they have the old style) & I've read about alot of 239's being damaged by not using the proper sight pusher.

Taxing my memory now, I believe if the number goes up, front or rear, the POI goes up. Check your manual for the exact changes with each number. It is different for the front than it is for the rear.

As far as sight tools, I have changed sights on 226's, 220's and 245's with my MGW tool have not used it yet with my 239 as the night sights do not yet need replacing. As with any tool, it must be used to insure your not going to do any damage. It should work from all I have read.

I believe on the front sights the larger the number the smaller the sight... Your MGW tool I think I need the blue one with the spacer but the spacer must be removed before installing the sights on a 239 or damage may result, (it even says remove spacer when using on a P-239) I was wondering if they dont have the blue MGW tool if I should let them even attempt trying to install the sights..

I've read that the 239's were a little different than the other P series pistols.. especially the 9mm models the slide is smaller & weaker..

Just checked my (blue) MGW instructions. It says remove spacer for the 40/357 slide. If one had a 9mm the spacer would stay in place. This is consistent with the 40/357 slide being slightly taller.
