Hello all. New to the forum and Sigs, but glad to hear this resource is around. It seems that the Sig magazines are made by Mec-Gar, so I purchased a couple extra 15 round magazines for my P229. The Mec-Gar magazines do have a slightly different look and feel to them. Does anyone know if they will cause any issues for me in my P229? The basic shape and the followers do seem to match what came with my firearm.

Are you looking at a blued magazine vs a phosphated one?
The two do have a different appearance with the phosphated ones having a dull rougher surface. If a version is available, all my extra magazines are MecGar for both my 229 and 226's. No issues what-so-ever with any of them. I have used both the nickel and blue MecGar and seen no difference in performance as compared to factory, if anything, they drop free and insert slicker than the phosphated mags.
I believe there is a new contract manufacturer for Sig factory mags, not sure who it is. MecGar for some time was the contract manufacturer and I am unsure if they still play any part in the OEM equipment.
Use the MecGar with confidence. Also, I would second the recommendation to check out Top Gun Supply as mentioned by Jim-Bob, they are top notch!

Personally, I prefer the nickel plated Mec-Gar marked magazines to the standard phosphate SIG-branded ones. The nickel models are slick and easy to clean. The nickel models only cost a little more than the blued models and are worth it to me. Right now, I'm using the nickel Mec-Gars as my main carry magazines and the phosphate SIG models are only seeing use on the range.
