Optic for MCX Virtus

Just ordered an MCX Virtus pistol in 300 BLK, 9Ē Barrel.

I plan to shoot mostly at an indoor range - 100 Yards Max.

Was looking for recommendations for either a Red dot or maybe something with a bit of magnification for this distance.

Appreciate your suggestions.

I'd put an Aimpoint PRO or Trijicon MRO on it- it's a great pistol so you should run a quality optic.

Welcome from PA. For what you spent on that bad boy, don’t cheap out with some Chinese wuhan red dot. The Aimpoint Pro or Trijicon MRO can’t be beat. Both pair well with a magnifier and are made by Americans in America.

The MRO is definitely made in the USA, but according to the Aimpoint website, ALL aimpoint optics are made in Sweden. https://www.aimpoint.com/support/cou...impoint-sight/

Welcome to Sig Talk - and Congrats on your MCX!! Luv shooting mine. 300Blk 9" is a great all 'round setup that runs both supers & subs, suppressed & unsuppressed well.

My old eyes don't allow 100yd shots without some optic help, so 50yds is my typical bench time with 9" setup. Here's a 50rd target with MRO for ya.

I've run 16" 5.56 & 300Blk Virtus at 100yds with 1-8x, 5x and 3x scopes with good results. Virtus 5.56 prefers heavier match ammo though. Here's Virtus with Primary Arms' 5x prism scope.

Cheers

I know eotech lied to everyone, but I have yet to
find a faster red dot. I would take a look at the eotech XPS2-0.

I plan on getting the MRO for my MCX 9" 300BLK. For the Rattler, I'm using a RMR mounted on a ANR Design ANVL mount. I like the built in BUIS and compactness it offers.

The EOtech story is very misunderstood.

I'd ask anybody who wants to discuss it to listen to this podcast and get a better understanding: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcas...=1000473149678

I have an EOtech XPS2 and magnifier on my 16” MCX Virtus (run both 300 And 556 barrels) and a Romeo5 on my Rattler.

Budget? Depends if my wife is reading the forum. I'm trying to stay under $1K, but started looking at the Vortex Razor and then came back to my senses. That's way more than I need for 100 Yards.

Great info and appreciate you taking time to post the pics of your setup. Looks great!

I have old eyes as well. So iif I go with the Trijicon MRO, I'm going to need a magnifier at 50 and 100 yards.

Noticed Trijicon has a combo with the MRO that include a flip up 3x magnifier.
Believe it is #2200057. Any thoughts on this? Looks pretty nice, but I don't have experience with Rifle optics.

Planning to shoot at 25, 50, and 100 yards. Indoor range only.
Any recommendation on Low Power Variable Optic (LPVO) or Red Dot w/Magnifier?

Thanks guys !

Happy to help, pics 'r easy! Couple questions for ya. Do you see red dots clearly? And is this a defensive weapon?

Lot'a 'experienced' folks like us or with astigmatism eye condition look thru red dots and see halos, comets, star bursts, splats and other weird stuff. Usually, wearing their Rx glasses helps or even completely mitigates these adorations and for some - That's good enough.

However, if this is a home defense weapon I wouldn't suggest betting you family's wellness on your having time to find and put on your glasses before dealing with the bad guy(s) that just kicked in your backdoor.

So, if you're seeing red dots just fine, or this isn't a defensive weapon, then sure a red dot with 3x magnifier works. Obviously, 3 power is all you'll get and it's another devise added to your accessory rail. Suggest mounting a magnifier with QD mount so it's easy to remove when not needed.

My preference is running a low power optic though. S&B 1-8x, Trijicon's 1-6x and the 3x and 5x prisms mentioned above are now in my kit here. I'm currently back-ordered on Primary Arms new 2x prism for MCX SBR that's usually running MRO red dot. This new prism is smaller & lighter than previous prism optics and the 2x power should be just enough...

Cheers

If your planning on shooting no further than 100 yards, an LPVO is overkill.

EOtech and magnifier is the way to go.
