Hey guys,

This announcement is a bummer.
But as I mentioned above there are other outlets that work just as Photobucket worked.
There is imgur.com, tinypic.com, flickr.com and postimg.org.

I think they are forcing users into a some kind of plan, and doing away with the free service.

Here are the current plans -- I've been on the basic plan for years and have not been notified of a required change to my billing rate.

That's why I bought a large capacity external Hard Drive and store my pics there. Uploading to sites is not an issue.

There have been many attempts on the Internet to create revenue streams from sources previously offered for free. Not a single one has worked!

So good riddance PB, cya L8R...

I could get my own domain, plenty of storage and bandwidth, for a pittance compared to their outrageous ridiculousness! Even if they retract this stupidity, I'm done with them and hope everyone else moves on too.

I believe Dropbox made a similar move a few months ago.

An interesting choice on their part, but as Richard mentioned, there are always alternatives. Postimg is quite the favourite around here.

I just deleted my account with them, so please bear with me as I try to replace some of the pictures in my threads and post.
I've deleted a lot of the photos I put up on PB, so I am busy downloading then will jettison them.

I have a few "how to"s with links to PB so that sucks.

That's a pretty reasonable deal. I hope the other free hosting services don't follow PB's example but there is always the chance.

I've been uploading my images to many forums directly from my hard drive for many years (since "Village Photo" abruptly shut down several years ago right after the due date for their fee and ran off to God knows where with my money and 26,000 images - which I had backed up).

Is there a thread somewhere on this forum that explains image posting rules? Image sizing, number of images per post, etc. ?

Thanks!

Once you open the "Go Advanced" page, and open the Manage Attachments link, you'll see all that info.
