So I've found out I like sigs Only. Would you guys buy multiples of the same gun? If I've narrowed it down that I like the style and feel. Why not? If one ever gets messed up. I have another. And since I think guns are and can be an investment. Even late in the game. I think they are great placeholders for money instead of a bank.

But. Any who. A 226 elite is near me?. Would you get it just because, ......? Or waste of cash. I do live in CA

Sure,

I own a number of sigs that are for competition, winter carry and home defense. Training on one is training for all.

You might have your 226 that you carry for home defense and the range, and then you might pick up a police trade in 226 as a truck gun. Many often talk about 2 primary guns of the same type incase of repair or seizure that you are already trained on.

I have quite a few P226s (my personal favorite) and more than one P229. They all have something different; e.g. finish, grips, SRT, rail type. I like the different models and different calibers. I see nothing wrong with having more than one of the same model.
Like I said in another thread, if I could (afford it, that is), I would have one of every P226 ever made. :D Seriously. I love them and I like the different looks and features.
Get what you like, want and can afford.
Enjoy the variety! ;)

On this forum they consider multiple guns to be a sickness.

They call it the "Signess".

You can see from my signature that I am not a victim of the Signess. :) :)

I bought a new P229R 40 in '05. Liked is so much I bought another just like it in '06, just in case something happened to the first. Then I bought an older PD trade in, no rail. Fixed that up as my carry. Gave the second railed P229 to my son.

I lived in CA, retired to NV 13 years back. CA had been piling on the gun laws even then, but it's gotten much worse I know. If you ever have to research a particular aspect of some obscure law, invariably one section of legalize will refer to several other code sections, which in turn refer to still more. It's an absolute morass, a quagmire of nonsensical, arbitrary, liberal BS. It's as if a junior state legislator's right of passage is to get a an off-the-wall gun restrictive law named after themselves.

If I still lived there, I'd be getting whatever guns I wanted and could still "legally" obtain - easier if you have relatives out of state.

NV is still one of the good states. No license required to conceal carry and loaded within reach in your vehicle, just need the CCW for concealed on your person. Full auto and suppressors? If money is no object and that's you heart's desire, just jump the NFA hoops and you can have those too. I love this place!

I agree with just about everything you have said regarding Calif and it's highly restrictive guns laws. I do think you comment about "legally" obtaining guns being easier if you have relatives out of state deserves some clarification. While Calif does still allow "used" handguns to be "gifted" between "close" family members without the need to go through an FFL this law is quite specific about which family member are allowed to do this. For example - father to son or to daughter is ok. Brother to sister is NOT ok. You still must report the transfer to the state and pay a fee to register the gun in your name. If the relative "giving" the gun is not a resident of Calif the whole process gets more complicated and must go through an ffl.

Yes in deedy, If I really like them I'll get two if you are talking identical, same one different model warrants one of each. But I've only done this with Sigs and Colts, with two exceptions 2 Super Match M1A's and thee 938's but that was just because they were cheap and I got them to hide around.

One older west german p226, one MK25. Two Beretta m9's, 1 Beretta M9A1. Only single I own is my p220. Love it, will eventually find another to acompany it. I like standardizing on one or two pistols to make magazines easier to stock up on. I have a ton of beretta mags. Trying to build up p226 mags, but insist on only buying sig mags, used and new. Far more expensive too.

Nice thing about all of these I have listed is that the Beretta's I own all use the same holsters (sans light with M9A1), but the sigs all use the same. Thats nice. Makes one more field of aquisition easier.

I have three P226's, and none are identical. Two of them are basically the exact same gun, railed, in .357SIG, but one is two-tone and the other is nitron. My only P229 is an M11A1, but I think I'll be getting another P229 in the future. I love the E2 grip on the P229.

I have multiple of the same "style", but not the same " model ". As for auto loaders, I started out with a Springfield 1911, then picked up a Kimber Ultra Carry I I and most recently bought my first Sig (P938). All being based on the 1911 makes it easy to jump from one to another without having to alter my technique. If I shoot my Glock or one of my Rugers I need to remember they all have different mag release positions and/or safety locations. That's not a problem for me as the last thee I only use for target shooting. It is more important when it comes to CC and self defense as most times l'm carrying my Kimber and sometimes I'll be carying the P938 (once I get used to it). I guess it depends on what you plan on using them for and what style you're used to.

Also depends on what you shoot the most. If you shoot the same style, or same manual of arms, by far the majority of the time, the odds of "habit" (muscle memory) screwing you up when your motor skills are being messed with by a dump of adrenalin will be lower. Not guaranteed, but lower.

It's not just a good idea, in some cases it's neccesary! For instance you have a P229R, but having a P229 w/o rail may be better for CC and having the Stainless elite is....hell just cool. 3 of the "same" gun with 3 very different purposes. I rest my case your honor!
