Legion mods done by Sig?

I realize I will have to contact Sig to get a definite answer, but I was wondering if anyone on the forums has ever done anything similar.

I purchased a new P229 Legion a couple of weeks ago, but unfortunately had to send it back because of problems with the finish. Sig agreed to set it up for replacement as of October 3. I was told that it normally takes 4-6 weeks, but with a Legion they like to send out a replacement quicker if possible. We'll see how that works out.

While I'm waiting, I had a thought. Since Sig is coming out with the P229 RX, I was wondering if there was any possibility that Sig might substitute an optics ready slide in place of the normal Legion slide. I'm talking an RX slide finished in the gray PVD finish that is normally used on the Legion. I wouldn't want a Nitron finished RX slide on a Legion.

Right now I'm guessing that Sig probably won't do this, or if there's any possibility at all, it might have to be done in the custom shop. It sure would be a lot easier for me if they could swap it out as they were building the new Legion, rather than having to send it back at a later date for the change. It would also prevent me from having the big expense of having to buy a separate slide and then having an extra slide and no use for it.

Anyone care to give an opinion of whether Sig might consider this or not?

Thanks for the input. All of the opinions follow pretty much what I'm expecting. NO.

I understand with big businesses throwing something entirely different into the mix is like throwing a wrench in the works. However, it would have been nice.

I might check with their Custom Shop, but probably anything they would do would mean purchasing a separate RX slide and having it finished in Legion gray. I was hoping to avoid that.

I may just have to settle for the P320 X Carry that I have on pre-order and the Romeo 1 that I found a good deal on and also have on order.

I have the 229 RX exchange kit slide on the Legion frame, but I don't see much difference in the color of the slide and frame with the slide a little darker than the frame. I think it looks nice. (Sorry I can't do photos). I thought I saw somewhere that Sig will eventually offer Legion RX exchange kits but I don't remember where. The only thing you lose with a non Legion slide is the serrations on the front of the slide and the Legion logo which would be covered by the Romeo anyway.

Sig is coming out with the Legion RX series. I’m not sure on an exact release date but when I was there a few months ago it was supposed to happen the next month then the 320 drop stuff happened. I know we all get frustrated waiting on their stuff to hit the market but after seeing the behind the scenes going’s on I can see why some things are so slow. Contrary to what some say about Sig due to the 320 drop stuff they are very detailed and do things the way they feel is the right way. Lots of federal and political hoops to jump through. Huge company with lots of top notch employees. I’m very confident in the Sig products more now than ever before. Not sure if I answered your question if not hopefully it helps some.
